Professors provided Festival Insights

University of Edinburgh academics led literary discussion at the International Festival on Antigone and the Scottish Supernatural.

On 11 August, Olga Taxidou, Professor of Drama, and Douglas Cairns, Professor of Classics, discussed the significance of the play Antigone, and the special attraction of both the literary work and character for audiences, performers, philosophers and theorists.

The event was chaired by Professor Dorothy Miell, Vice Principal and Head of the College of Humanities and Social Science.

On 17 August, Penny Fielding, Grierson Professor of English Literature, and Randall Stevenson, Professor of Twentieth-Century Literature, discussed the tradition of the Supernatural in Scottish literature.

The event was chaired by writer and theatre critic Octavian Saiu.
