Hand-made Cinema celebrated the work of Scottish animator and film director Norman McLaren. Image The exhibition revealed McLaren’s creative process through screening examples of his films alongside the physical materials used to make them. The animator was known for painting directly on to film and making his own equipment. The exhibition was part of McLaren 2014, a programme of events celebrating the animator’s 100th birthday. The Edinburgh International Film Festival celebrated McLaren’s Centenary with special screenings and events, including awarding the 25th annual McLaren Award for Best British Animation.
