The University is a proud supporter of the Edinburgh International Festival. The University of Edinburgh has been involved with EIF since the first festival in 1947 and 2019 will mark 30 years since we were first a sponsor of the festival. Since 2014, we have partnered with EIF and the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland to run the programme “International Festival Encounters: Developing Artistic Entrepreneurship”. Additionally we have provided venues for festival shows and launch events. Billed as ‘a morning of provocation and discussion’ in a cross-festival conversation, the two hours at The Lyceum saw Lucy Kerbel, Founder and Director of Tonic, chair a panel including Catherine Mayer, Alicia Adams, Nadine Benjamin, Ifeoma Fafunwa and Emma Gladstone to discuss the state of gender equality in the arts.
